Discovery Freelancer 4.85: Codenamed weapons

This article is about the codenamed weapons in the Discovery Freelancer modification. I’ve been looking for locations of these weapons on the internet and I haven’t found anything really complete, which made me start looking for them in-game. I’ve found several so far and here I’m going to list them with their locations. The list is incomplete, but I’ll be adding new locations with each new weapon I’ll find. Which can safe you weeks of looking for a specific weapon you want. :) But consider reading this article well: since it’s Discovery, it looses a bit it’s point, if you don’t have anything to discover. :) Personally I have enjoyed searching for these weapons even in offline mode. It’s in nature. :P

Note that some wrecks are far upon or under the plane. So if you arrive to it’s location, it is not guaranteed that you’ll see the wreck immediately, flying 30K up and down should be enough, in case.

My game

It’s been quite a while when I started wondering about game development. If I remember well, my first creativities related to games started with Half – Life. I was still at elementary school when this game came out, I liked it so much and I so much wanted to create similar things on my own. Of course it was still far away from creating my own game, but in some time I learned how to make Half – Life’s BSP maps, something about static lights, something about entities. Something about textures and models and stuff. In two years I learned to modify the game as much as you didn’t know it’s Half – Life on first sight. An interesting way to spend time without the internet. :)

Well, since then I was just gathering knowledge in all ways of IT, mainly programming, net and graphics. Now I feel like experienced enough to make my own game.

I’ve started making an online space simulator. In later development it should contain features like PvP, trade routes, mining and stuff, but there are three main thoughts of the game. First it’s supposed to teach me game development, sure there are still many things and problems I will sooner or later engage and find out their solutions. Second, it should give a F2P 3D online space simulator to the Linux gamers, although some Windows client is in plan as well. Third, this game should allow it’s users to create it’s content as much as possible. For example, the client is already “in-game” scriptable with ECMAScript (JavaScript). The core game will be written in C++. Other parts in various languages.

I think this is enough for introduction at this very early stage of the game development. So stay tuned and I’ll believe to meet you in-game once. :)

In case you wanted to contribute, I’m looking for people with skills in modeling and texturing, music and sound artist and a PHP programmer with some understanding of MySQL database and XHTML. I’ve already got a friend for cross platform compiling. Please note that this project is absolutely a hobby thing, don’t expect any kind of income.
